Dance Photography
This series of courses is the ‘speciality of the house’, utilising Hilary’s acknowledged expertise of the subject, both as a photographer and lover of all types of dance. If you invest in one of these courses, not only will you gain an understanding of the photographic techniques needed, but an insight into the world of dance and dancers.
As students on these courses travel from all parts of the country courses fill up early. The studio is convenient for several motorways and main roads - details are in the ‘directions’ section. If you want to use the course as the basis for a weekend away, we can suggest nearby places to stay to suit all budgets.
We recommend that everyone starts at the first course in this series. Whatever standard of photography you have attained, the skills you learn here are specialised for this subject. The courses are therefore designed to be taken in order.
We use a variety of experienced, professional dancers all with differing and individual skills. The images at the bottom of this page are examples.
Dance & Movement Photography
This workshop is aimed at people who love dance & movement and would like to acquire or develop their skills at capturing it. Includes: planning a shoot; working with dancers; studio equipment tour & a practical session photographing a professional dancer. Please bring your own camera; film or digital. Feedback on your images is available by email.
Cost: £100
The ‘Dance Shoot’ Day
This is very much a ‘hands-on’ day, aimed at shooting as much as possible - both with studio flash & continuous lighting. Aimed at those who have attended the Dance & Movement course or have a reasonable grounding in photography. Please bring your own camera; film or digital.
Cost: £110
Dance Special
These days will follow on from the Dance Shoot Day and may involve different styles of dancer and/or different lighting styles and photographic techniques.

Cost: Range from £130-£200 depending on course
